Let’s get real

Wow, did I leave that open! Getting real? By who’s definition? I mean come on, there are so many of us out there with so many ideas of what is right, what is wrong, what is appropriate, etc. However, how many of us actually stop to think about what is “real”. How is something TRULY effecting the way somebody is living, feeling, existing? I’m not going to drag on about how “Corporate Amerika” has dragged down the fabric of our true American values, there are enough people out there spouting off hatred and rhetoric which will get them nowhere but deeper into an argument with others and themselves internally.

The “realness” I am talking about is that 3 in the morning feeling as you are walking down the street right after a rain storm and you can feel the moisture in the air, the water under your feet, the pavement popping from the bubbles in the water from the cars passing by and the tires flinging water in the air, and then looking up at the street light to see a hazy glow around it. Just then you see a delivery truck pulling into a dock to unload and you get a sudden feeling of, “whoa, people are working right now all around me, I’m walking in this world full of people all different than I am”.  You think of others, not yourself, and you see how other people think, how they feel, what they are doing, and how different each and every one of us truly are.

Enough with the BS of the media putting spins on issues, biases, plugs, marketing schemes,… enough with walking outside to pick up your paper and looking over to see your neighbor in his garage and you both smile and say “hello, how are you? — fine, you? — fine thank you” then walk inside and tell your wife you saw that damn next door neighbor that keeps letting his dog poop on your front lawn… enough of pretending that our leadership in all areas of government does not have problems and that we can’t do anything about it, “well, I might as well not vote, everything is so screwed up, it doesn’t matter anyway”… enough of “I don’t know the issues, I can’t understand anything that is going on in the Presidential race”… enough of “we need to increase testing for our elementary schools and reduce programs such as arts, sports and other activities… and enough of “everything happens for a reason, just pray about it and someone higher will take care of it”.

Let’s step back, take a look at where we are, who we are touching in our day to day lives, and tell ourselves…

Let’s get real!
